Top 3 Summer Vehicle Maintenance Tips

Check Tire Pressure

The summer months are the perfect time to take on an adventure in your car. However, you want to make sure you’re taking care of your car so that you can feel confident behind the wheel. Here are the top three vehicle maintenance tips for this summer.

Check Tire Pressure

Check your vehicle’s tires throughout the summer to make sure that they are at the right tire pressure. Properly-inflated tires are essential to maintain traction on the road during inclement weather and slippery conditions. Since severe temperatures can affect tire pressure, be sure to check PSI regularly. The average tire pressure rating should read 35 PSI in the summer.

Maintain Fluid Levels

Your vehicle’s engine oil and coolant are essential in keeping your engine cool and smoothly running. Check these fluid levels throughout the summer and top them off if needed. If your vehicle is due for an oil change, be sure to get it done. Other fluid levels to check include: transmission fluid, brake fluid, and power steering fluid.

Inspect the Battery

While many people associate battery issues with severe cold temperatures, hotter temperatures can actually negatively impact your car’s battery. Check the battery charge regularly to ensure that the heat hasn’t drained it too much. Keep an eye on corrosion around the battery terminals and battery fluid levels.
