The cities of Lafayette and West Lafayette come together each year to celebrate the birth of our nation at the Stars and Stripes Celebration, where there’s plenty to see and do.
Stars and Stripes Concert
On Thursday July 4th, head to Riehle Plaza in downtown Lafayette for the Stars and Stripes Celebration, which starts with the Stars and Stripes Concert featuring the Lafayette Citizens Band. Performances of patriotic songs from the band, the Freedom Singers, and many more will start at 5:30 p.m. Get there early because the plaza fills quickly. Around 10 p.m. the celebration culminates in a dazzling fireworks presentation over the river.
Battle of the Brave Ruck and Run
The celebration doesn’t stop on Thursday night; the weekend provides several events for the whole family. Honor active military and veterans by taking part in the Battle of the Brave Ruck and Run. On Saturday morning at 7 a.m., you can choose from a 10K Ruck, 10K Run, or 5K Run/Walk as a meaningful memorial of our soldiers’ sacrifices.
Wolf Park Summer Celebration
Head to Wolf Park for a silly summer celebration on Saturday at 2 p.m. as the park owners treat the wolf pack to a Watermelon Party. Watch the wolves tear into their tasty meals of watermelons stuffed with meat, cheese, dog biscuits, and ice cream.

Spring is in full swing, and it’s the perfect time of year for you and your family to reconnect with the natural world. If you’re in the Lafayette area, you’re in luck, as there is certainly no shortage of opportunities to get back in touch with the world around you. One of the coolest and most unique opportunities in the area is at Wolf Park, which hosts Howl Night every Friday and Saturday evening between May and November. If you love animals, are a wolf enthusiast, or are just interested in experiencing something new with the family, be sure to visit the Wolf Park this spring to discover the area’s wild side.
Every Friday and Saturday the gates of Wolf Park, in Battle
Ground, Indiana, are opened at 7:15 for a chance to observe the wolves when
they are most lively. As the sun begins to set, wolves spring to life,
exhibiting behavior you wouldn’t be able to witness during the day.
The evening starts with a brief talk about the park’s red
and grey foxes at 7:15 followed by a curated experience led by Wolf Park’s
handlers. Finally, there is a question and answer session at the end of the
evening and an opportunity to visit the park shop.

With the all-new MultPro™ Tailgate, GMC steps up its game to provide truck drivers with a tailgate like none other. Whether you’re using your truck on the worksite or for a weekend adventure, the world’s first six-function MultiPro™ Tailgate offers unparalleled functionality. So, what can you do with your new MultiPro™ Tailgate? Since the MultiPro™ consists of two tailgates – a primary gate and an inner gate – there are a lot of different configurations and uses. Here are a few main ones:
Primary gate load stop
Hauling items that are longer than the standard bed length? No worries, the MultiPro™ Tailgate has a load stop feature. To use, you simply open the primary gate and fold up the inside panel of the inner gate, creating a longer bed and a barrier to secure items.
For easy access to the truck bed, you can fold down both the primary and inner gate, then fold down the inner panel of the inner gate, which creates a 48-inch wide step.
Inner gate work surface
On the work site, it helps to have a work surface. By leaving the primary gate up but lowering the inner gate, the MultiPro™ Tailgate provides a large work surface at the perfect height.

For many drivers, color can be a deciding factor in whether or not they purchase a vehicle, and for good reason. The color of your vehicle might say a little more about you than you might think. What does your car color say about you?
Black cars tend to give off a sense of power and elegance.
Arguably the most classic color in the industry, a black paintjob vibes
empowerment. If you’re on the hunt for a classier car, start searching for
Like in flowers, white tends to be a sign of purity. These
drivers normally have nothing to hide and keep their cars clean and pristine.
For a car that takes a more direct approach, white is the way to go.
Orange isn’t the most common car color, and it normally
speaks to the complexity of the person behind the wheel. Artistic and
individualistic buyers tend to gravitate to similar car colors that aren’t
quite the norm.
There’s a reason people refer to bar-setting products as
‘the goal standard.’ Much like Cadillac models, gold radiates a warmer and
glamorous look. Gold tends to catch the attention of other drivers too. When it
comes to intelligence and glamor, gold is second to none.
Certified Pre-Owned vehicles are the perfect option for drivers who want the low cost of a used car plus the security and peace of mind you get with a new car. Here are some benefits of buying a CPO vehicle that might persuade you away from that shiny new car.
1: Lower cost
Obviously a used car will cost less than a new car of the
same make and model. But the sticker price isn’t the only price difference—car
insurance will cost less, and a used car will depreciate more slowly than a new
car. CPO is seriously cost-effective.
2: High quality
One of the most significant reasons to buy certified
pre-owned is that it’s as close to buying new as you can get without spending
new-car money. Buick and GMC both require a car to be less than six model years
old and have fewer than 75,000 miles on it to be considered certified, and they
must pass a vehicle history report.
You don’t have to buy a new car to get access to warranties.
When you buy a CPO vehicle from Mike Raisor Buick GMC Cadillac, it
automatically comes with fantastic warranties, including a 6-year or
100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty and a 12-month or 12,000-mile
4: Other benefits
Buyers of CPO vehicles at Mike Raisor also receive benefits
such as access to the CPO Scheduled Maintenance Program, which includes two
free maintenance visits in the first two years you own the car. You’ll get
trials of OnStar and SiriusXM Satellite Radio, a free vehicle history report,

One of the best things about the holiday season is spending some quality time with the whole family. But as every experienced road-tripper knows, too much time in the car with nothing to do can lead to plenty of tension. Looking for something to keep everyone happy this year? Check out these great holiday road trip games that everyone in the family will love.
License Plate Map
A classic road trip game that has saved countless family excursions, the license plate map game can keep everyone distracted, even on particularly long drives. All you need is a printed, blank map of the United States and some sharp eyes to participate, and kids of all ages will love to see the map fill up as they find various license plates on the road.
Would You Rather?
Would You Rather is a great game for families because you can tailor it to suit everyone’s personality. Kids will love deciding between two equally whacky options while adults can add in as much humor as they can conjure up.
Finally, a good old-fashioned scavenger hunt is a great way to keep everyone sane during a long holiday road trip. Leading up to the drive, print out one or more lists of things for everyone to keep their eyes peeled for and then enjoy the peace and quiet while everyone is busy looking out for a car with one headlight or a truck driver with a trucker’s hat on.
Of course, having a comfortable vehicle goes a long way in keeping travelers entertained during a long trip. You can find some such vehicles at Mike Raisor Buick GMC.
GMC always has surprises up its sleeve – and the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 is no exception. This pickup will feature the all-new Perimeter Lighting System, an innovative way to get the job done.
What is it?
The Perimeter Lighting System is an in-bed lighting system that provides an all-day and all-night workspace in the bed of your truck or around you. This new system makes setting up campsites, packing away a worksite, or changing a tire on a dark night much easier.
How is it different?
This lighting system is more advanced than previous lighting systems used by GMC, which typically only offered in-bed lighting. Perimeter Lighting, however, will feature eight different lights on all parts of the truck, including above the truck’s rear glass, at the front of its side mirrors, on the rear corners of the bed, and on the tailgate handle. The idea is to create a “perimeter” of light that makes it easy to access any part of your vehicle with improved illumination.
The lighting is also expected to be LED, which is more efficient and more powerful than standard lighting.
Which models will offer it?
The SLT, AT4, and Denali models of the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 will all offer the Perimeter Lighting System. It serves as a great addition to an already-innovative pickup truck. You can learn more about all of the GMC Sierra’s new features when you visit Mike Raisor Buick GMC.
It’s hard to complain about autumn in central Indiana. The weather is finally cooling off, the trees are beginning to turn different colors, and—best of all—the kids are back in school. Take advantage of the most comfortable weather of the year by piling into your Mike Raisor Buick or GMC vehicle and having some family fun. Here are a few fun, family-friendly things to do this fall:
Go pumpkin picking.
Nothing feels more like fall than carving into a jack-o-lantern, but before you can start cutting, you’ve got to choose the perfect pumpkin. Kids and adults alike can have a blast hopping on a hayride, sipping hot cider, and carefully inspecting gourds for the optimal size and shape. Wea Creek Orchard is an awesome local farm that offers the complete pumpkin patch experience.
Tailgate a football game.
The atmosphere near Ross-Ade Stadium is always exciting on game day—whether you’re taking a walk through campus or braving traffic for a choice spot in the stadium lot. Pack the cooler, the grill, and some chairs and get together with friends for tailgating fun.
Visit a haunted house or Halloween attraction.
For older kids, haunted houses and spooky parks are the perfect autumn thrill. Since 2011, Evil on Erie has been the premier Halloween haunt in Lafayette, and they’re back open for scares starting in October. For younger kids, how about a corn maze? Try the largest series of corn mazes in Indiana at Exploration Acres.
To get to these autumnal destinations, be sure to pick up a new set of wheels from Mike Raisor Buick GMC.
